About Us

CHALK Systems was founded in 2018 by Chris Forbes after working with a local school on a review of their administration processes. The CHALK Process Automation Platform assisted the School to reduce the time spent on executing policies, procedures and processes by automating these processes. Upon the implementation of CHALK, the school experienced a number of additional benefits associated with automating their policies and procedures including an improvement in the quality and accuracy of completed administration tasks and an increase in compliance and use of the school’s Policies and Procedures.

In 2020 Chris met Simon Jones. Simon had worked within the Educational Technology sector for more than 20 years. Passionate about education, Simon was looking for a solution which used technology to reduce the administration overhead for schools, whilst also improving operations. Simon joined CHALK as a Co-founder. Fast forward to today and CHALK has been implemented in a number of schools and continues to help schools streamline and digitise their administration processes.

Meet the founders

Chris Forbes

Co-founder & Head of Product Development

Chris Forbes has specialised in process automation since 1994, and co-founded Insight Marketing Systems in 2002. Their automation product (Research Reporter) was one of Australia’s first enterprise focused Software-as-a-Service platforms and their customers included ANZ, Australia Post, Coca Cola, Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton, and JP Morgan Chase & Co. Chris sold the business to Focus Vision in 2015, but retained ownership of the content management system which underpins the CHALK platform today. This platform allows for rapid creation of product functionality and tailoring of functionality to customer requirements, without the need for software development.

Simon Jones

Co-Founder

Simon Jones has specialised in Education Technology since 2000, and he worked within the CHALK business between 2020 and 2022. He is now employed as the General Manager of Sentral (a division of Global Payments), and previous positions included Managing Director of Civica’s Libraries and Education Business, leading 150 staff members in Software Development, IT Services, Cloud Strategy, Sales, Marketing and Finance. At Civica, he led the business through a period of unprecedented growth between 2014 (50 staff) and 2019 (150 staff).
